BASE/APEX returns as a web magazine platform. Editors include Damon Zucconi, Milan Zrnic, Nikolay Saveliev, Vadik Marmeladov, and myself. Content is updated regularly via web-based custom content management system.

NUURO

Created for my good friend Alejandro Ghersi, a musician based in New York. The site includes a disc-changing track player of Nuuro's music, interactive objects for photos and showtimes, and elements that react to the actively playing audio. The physics engine was created using an Actionscript 3.0 Box2D port of Erin Catto's C++ original library.

Hugo & Marie is an imaginative consultancy and talent boutique. We have the pleasure of working amongst and curating extraordinarily talented leaders in any number of creative disciplines. We call ourselves by many names - artists and art directors, illustrators and designers - but we each share the compulsion to speak in the wonderful, nuanced vocabulary of visual media. Ludosabato 2008

The primary goal of this project was to create a physically explorational space on the web, which primarily is a text-driven medium. Whether it meets that goal or not-- it did, however, serve as a way to learn Papervision3D, which has proven to be a tremendous tool in pushing the possibilites of how a website is defined.

Issey Miyake: Pleats Please

Art Directed and successfully pitched the design at Syrup NYC in September 2007. The project was in production for 3 months and reached about 90% completion before taking a drastic change in direction.

Design was then rehauled by Art Director Clayton Crocker.

Created in the Fall of 2007 as a temporary site for BASE / APEX, a new company by Damon Zucconi and myself. The site showcases tech experiments using various technologies. And the head-- well that is a 3d model of Damon's head.

Unearthen

Unearthen makes crystal necklaces, BASE / APEX created a flash site of fantasy and mysticism to fit the bill. Milan Zrnic handled layout, typography, and client relations. Damon Zucconi was the go-to guy for imagery and video. I handled interaction and development.

Unsolved Mysteries: Window

The footage looked like this when I got my hands on it: footage.jpg. It was basically blindly shot underwater in a plastic box using debatable lighting. With an elaborate set of keyframed exposure adjustments in Final Cut's new application Color, the footage was given a new light. Thereafter, Amanda Finn edited it into the final music video which can be viewed on her site: http://amandafinn.com.

Nike Air

Big Spaceship created an award-winning site in 2006. Keyboard strokes are used to toggle on and off various animations. I was fortunate enough to contribute a number of the programmed illustrations as well as take part in the initial pitch.

Bruce Mau's Manifesto

A class assignment while at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. The assignment was quite vague: to illustrate Bruce Mau's Manifesto using Flash. It was intended to be customizable-- using different systems of categorization for the work. Ultimately I realized the interesting part of the project wasn't categorization, but rather the interaction and navigation.

Hipparchus, A Biography

A loose biography on the Greek astronomer and mathematician Hipparchus. The three achievements illustrated include his star catalogue, the orbit of the moon, and motion of the Sun. The project mainly served as an exercise in using geometry and trigonometry with Flash.

Insitu Design

Created while at Big Spaceship. Insitu designed the new office, so we gave them a website as part of the deal. Also being a Designer, the owner of Insitu proved to be a learning experience in client relations. There were considerable compromises, but probably for the better. The end product is holding up after 2 years.

Freshman year of college, there was little interest in the introductory art classes. I would usually spend my evenings working with Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Some of the work was repurposed from figure drawing classes.

The first version of Ludosabato. I had gone through a few breakdowns. One in high school of my senior year. The second towards the end of my freshman year of college. I wrote about things, but nothing was particularly organized. This version is loose, but there are shared themes with even the 2008 version.
